Michael E. Chapnick is a Florida Bar Board Certified Specialist in Condominium and Planned Unit Development Law. Prior to joining Sachs Sax Caplan, Mr. Chapnick worked with some of the largest community association law firms in Florida, and, from 2004 through 2014 founded and operated Chapnick Community Association Law, P.A. Mr. Chapnick graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park in December of 1989, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and Politics. Mr. Chapnick then attended the Detroit College of Law where he earned a Juris Doctor Cum Laude degree. Mr. Chapnick was admitted to the Illinois Bar and the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1995, and the Florida Bar and Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida in 2001.

Mr. Chapnick has focused his entire practice on representing community associations. Mr. Chapnick has advised clients on all aspects of cluster housing operation, including day-to-day operational issues, collection and lien foreclosures, turnover issues, document interpretation and amendments, permissible restrictions on the placement of satellite dishes in community associations, qualification for the Housing for Older Persons exemption to the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, and maintaining compliance with the anti-discrimination provisions of the Americans with Disabilities and Fair Housing Acts.

Mr. Chapnick frequently teaches continuing education courses to Florida Community Association Managers, regularly conducts board member certification courses, and has lectured on various topics including legislative updates, assessment collection and foreclosure strategies, covenant enforcement, and occupancy screening issues.

Mr. Chapnick has served on the Board of Directors of the Gold Coast Chapter of the Community Association Institute and on its education committee, and has served as a delegate to the Florida Legislative Alliance, the legislative lobby of the Community Association Institute.

Mr. Chapnick has striven to integrate the use of technology to improve both law practice management and the exchange of information between law firm and client, and in 2008, Mr. Chapnick founded Webware Systems Incorporated, developing web-based system solutions designed to help streamline work processes and help attorneys provide more open communication with their clients.
